WROBOCON2023–PRESENT
Designing an online conference over the years
Wrobocon is an online event for Robot Framework enthusiasts. I have designed and built it since the second edition. In a way, each Wrobocon marks a milestone in my own journey of growth in both design and code.

01 Overview
In 2023 I joined an amazing team of QA engineers who had just wrapped up a successful first edition of Wrobocon
I took ownership of design and frontend development from the second edition onward. Since then, I have evolved the identity, built each website and extended the visual system across speaker announcements, social content and the conference blog. In 2025, Wrobocon also expanded into an explorable WorkAdventure venue.

02 Brand evolution
Following the Robot Framework Foundation’s approach:
Each Wrobocon edition introduced a new colour palette to give it a distinct identity. Rebuilding everything from scratch each year would have been inefficient, so I created a lightweight design system with reusable components and colour tokens. This allowed the visual language to evolve while keeping the experience consistent and recognisable.

03 From website to virtual venue
For the fourth edition in 2025, we introduced a virtual venue in WorkAdventure.
It was a new challenge, but also a kind of homecoming: with my background in architecture, designing rooms, paths and gathering spaces was the closest my product-design work had come to my original profession.
I translated the conference identity into a navigable environment, using clear zones to separate talks, workshops, networking and quieter spaces.

Redesigning the venue for a new theme

During Wrobocon 2025

2026 venue • UPCOMING
| Robot factory | Robot university |
|---|---|
| Common space | |
| Too spacious, even with this many people it made an impression of many empty spaces | Smaller and more compact. One centre point with access to every room |
| Networking | |
| One access only, big space | Access from the conference and from the entry. More inviting and inclusive |
| Quiet zone | |
| Far away from the conference room, too close to the exit | Next to the conference room, main hall and workshop rooms |

06 Design ownership but definitely not working alone
As Wrobocon grew
the website evolved from an event landing page into a broader communication system. Each addition responded to a specific need around discovery, trust, preparation or continued participation.

07 Each edition brings new lessons
Each edition teaches us about creating a clear, engaging and more connected experience.
Wrobocon began as a passion project and has grown into an established online event for the international Robot Framework community. There is still room to improve (particularly in collecting structured attendee feedback) but I am proud to be part of an ambitious team and to help Wrobocon evolve year after year.
05 Social media evolution
The evolving identity extended beyond the website into Wrobocon’s social communication.
These speaker announcements from 2024–2026 show how the same logo and typographic foundations adapted to each edition’s new colour palette and visual language.
